Our history

Gilkes Energy Ltd was established in 2008 in order to help our clients develop and finance hydropower projects.

However our parent company Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Ltd has been around somewhat longer! Formed in 1853 Gilbert Gilkes & Gordon Ltd designs and manufactures Hydro-electric turbines and ancillary equipment in the range up to 20MW. Based in Kendal in the English Lake District activities include design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, testing, routine service and plant upgrade.
